Throughout eastern medicine there has always been a deep held beliefs, whether described as Qi, (the Yin-Yang) from traditional Chinese medicine, Hot and Cold dynamics of Ayurvedic Indian medicine, moon and sun from Egyptian medicine and Hatha Yoga principles, to the masculine and feminine qualities of ancient Alchemy medicine, traditional cultures have known about the need for complete balance in the body and mind.

Many people are now starting to question the prolonged effects of high intensity training and the accumulation of daily stress. Together these qualities can lead to a number of long term health defeating consequences including damaged joints, under active thyroid, slowing of metabolic function, non-optimised resting heart rates/HRV, difficulties in cognitive function, anxiety and depression amongst a host of other issues.

Fitness & wellness is supposed to fix all this, but it seems that the modern styles of training combined with the modern hectic lifestyle and reliance on complicated supplements and manufactured chemical additives in our "health foods" on top of less than optimal trendy diets may be doing the exact opposite.

In this course you will learn many techniques, drills, and ideologies that will allow you to course correct with your clients, and classes and in doing so actually create better, stronger, and faster athletes and for decades to follow.

  • Foundations of recovery using Thai Massage, and Rue Si Dat-ton, an ancient, yet until now secret form of yoga unique to Thailand and originating from India.

  • Simple meditation that anyone can learn in 15 minutes. 

  • Other ways to help clients recover from all the issues stress has created, including at home drills and products that can aid in chronic and acute stress reduction. 

  • Lifestyle changes to reduce stress symptoms, ensure better sleep and improve QOL.

The CISF makes it very easy to get certified as an NAFC Personal Trainer.


At the CISF we offer the NAFC Personal Trainer Certification course as a mix of at-home study & live intensive 24 hour practical workshop (usually as a 3 day weekend course, F/S/Su).


All your materials, and graduating certificate, will be delivered as high-resolution PDF's, and all theory testing will be done on-line as well (web cam required)


In our exclusive live intensive workshop you will discover and practice many of the much needed gym floor skills of the modern fitness trainer including; learning exercises, measuring blood pressure and heart rates, program design, warm-ups and cool-downs, small group control, coaching cues, and much more.

The NAFC Personal Trainer Certification course will have 3 main components. 

  • 3 PDF eManuals to download and study.

  • One online theory test for each course manual (3 theory tests in total). 

  • A Practical Test which will be completed on the last day of your live workshop.


1. Can I get the needed liability insurance with NAFC?

Of course! We are partners with North America's biggest sport and fitness insurance provider, Sport & Fitness USA, and Sport & Fitness Canada. You are 100% eligible for insurance across Canada!

2. Is NAFC recognised anywhere and everywhere?

This is a common misconception when it comes to certifications. There is NO such thing as a globally recognised mandatory certification. Each gym or owner of a gym may or may not allow ANY certification they choose. However, NAFC operates in Canada, USA, Latin America, Mexico, and throughout most of Asia, including Hong Kong, China, Singapore, all SE Asia. We also have graduates working in gyms and studios all over the world. The most IMPORTANT things gyms look for is "do you have a professional, and international certification that is applicable for liability insurance?". Yes you will with NAFC!

3. How long has NAFC been around for?

They started in 1992, and have over 35,000 students 

4. How does working around the world work? 

That is a great question, and as our founder Ror Alexander has lived and trained people all over the world, we will let him answer.

"Hi, terrific question! Let me tell you first, it's AMAZING to get paid to travel! OK, well let's start with this. IF you say wanted to do a 1, 2 or maybe even 3 week retreat out of Canada, say on a tropical island, then your insurance would cover you for a temporary period (just make sure to tell them first). 

Now, let's say you want to travel the world, well it depends on the country or even the continent. Most of Asia for example is WAYYYY behind in fitness, they don't require ANY insurance! Often they don't even require certifications! Scary right?! 

If let's say you are moving to a European or UK country, then you will need to ask the gym where you work if they accept your certification, and each country has it's own rules on insurance, some slack, some strict".

5. How do I stay certified with NAFC?

Easy again. Like ALL good certifications, NAFC requires 2.7 CEC credits per every 2 years, and a membership renewal also every 2 years of $100 USD (only $50 per year). You will also need to do your CPR and AED annually. NOW HERE IS THE AWESOME PART! NAFC is very welcoming of CEC courses by other organisations. Besides other NAFC courses, or courses offered by NAFC partners like us at CISF, they also give CEC's for any courses recognised by canfitpro, ACE, ISSA, NASM, ASCM, NESTA, or AAFA.

*Please note, NAFC does NOT accept CEC courses from small provincial organisations such as BCRPA, only internationally accredited professional courses.
